The Last Supper Vinciana and S. Maria delle Grazie
It is one of the world's most celebrated works. It was realized between 1494 and 1498 on the refectory wall of the Dominican monastery in St.Maria delle Grazie. It was documented that the particular technique used by the artist and the environmental factors had contributed to the eventual deterioration of the painting that has undergone numerous restorations for this reason. ince the latest restoration the room temperature is constantly checked and visitors intake has been restricted to groups of 25 admitted every 15 minutes.
Tip: Book in advance the tickets to visit to avoid unavailability of seats.
The Dome of Milan and the gallery Vittorio Emanuele
The Duomo is an exceptional example of Lombard Gothic. The Cathedral was commissioned by Gian Galeazzo Visconti, and dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente. It is an immense mountain of marble shaped into statues, pinnacles, buttresses, rampant arches and pillars. This imposing religious building, second only to St Peter’s Cathedral in Rome, houses almost 3500 statues that are spread over an area of almost 12,000 square meters. The tallest spire, which has the famous “Madonnina” on top of it, is 108 meters high. The statue of the Virgin Mary, the “Madonnina”, is covered in 3900 pieces of gold leaf

Il Castello Sforzesco
The castle, which stands in the square of the same name, was built between 1358 and 1368, under Galeazzo II Visconti. In 1447 the government of the Ambrosian Republic decreed that it should be destroyed. Francesco Sforza ordered it to be rebuilt when he came to power. In 1521 the tower of Filarete blew up, causing an explosion of gunpowder. The castle suffered various adversities through the centuries. In 1880 the restoration work began under the direction of Luca Beltrami.
